Southern home plans are available in a wide variety of square footage and come in both one-story and two-story layouts. These plans draw style influences similar to country house plans, and you can find southern architecture in many different regions of the US, including Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and the Gulf Coast.

Southern Style House Plans with Modern Amenities

This style became popular in the 1700s and was common amongst estate owners. If you want that historic, Southern living look, you can get it by building one of the plans from our collection. Here are some common features you’ll find in these houses:

  • Windows with shutters.
  • Large front porches – or wraparound porches – with a series of round or square columns. Porches are built using a decking material rather than concrete and sometimes include a veranda to provide shade.

  • Other outdoor living spaces include decks, patios, and even outdoor kitchens to soak up the warm breeze.

  • Open floor plans that combine the kitchen, dining room, and living room all into one space.

  • Large kitchens with features such as walk-in pantries, islands, and breakfast nooks.

  • First-floor master suites are separated from the other bedrooms in the home.
